Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci was born on November 12, 1961, in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast. She holds the record for being awarded 10/10 marks in an Olympic event. Bela Karalyi was introduced to Comaneci when she was six. She would later be Romania's gymnastics coach. She first competed in the national junior championships in 1969 placing 13th and she was the winner in 1970. At her first international meet, which was an preolympics junior event for countries in the Communist bloc, she was awarded three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1975 she was named the all-around Junior Champion. In her first senior competition in 1975, she beat Russian Lyudmila Turkishcheva. The five-time European champion, winning four gold medals and one silver. In 1976, she became the first female athlete in the world to use a backwards-double salto for a dismount off parallel bars. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. As a teenager, Carol Wayne began working in the entertainment industry by performing in the form of figure skater. Together with her sister Nina Wayne she was part of the traveling show Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol was a part of the entertainment business during her teenage years. When she was a child she was a figure skating performer with Nina Wayne in the travelling show of entertainment Ice Capades. The shows featured ice skating with theatrical shows.
